Exam period
Last modified: 07. December 2022
The start and end dates of the examination period are determined by the University's academic calendar for the academic year. After the 13 week study period the examination period is 4-6 weeks, when students can take the exams of subjects. The examination period for students in their last semester (students before graduation exam) is shorter, only 3 weeks.
The institution responsible for the subject shall announce the examination dates in NEPTUN TR at least two weeks before the examination period. An exam may be oral, written, practical or online (written (online), oral (online)). The date of the written (and comprehensive written) exams is set by the instructor of the subject, taking the opinions of the students into account. At least three opportunities must be provided for an exam during the exam period, ensuring that one and a half times the total number of students taking the subject can register for each examination opportunity. Exam dates must be announced proportionally spread over the exam period. If there is no time overlap between the exam period for students taking final examination and that of for students not taking final examination, the number of exam opportunities specified in this paragraph shall be provided separately in both exam periods.
The date of oral exams shall be determined by the subject leader instructor, taking the opinions of the students into account. During the exam period, the exam dates shall be announced proportionately. Unless otherwise specified, the exam will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for all candidates registered for that day. Examinations may be organised from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
If students intending to take the final examination do not meet the requirements for the final certificate (diploma), they may take the examination in the examination period applicable to non-final candidates, but the non-final candidate may only sit the examinations in the examination period applicable to them.
If the student fails to appear for the examination, the University shall transcribe the costs of the examination (absence fee) to the student's account in the absence of the appropriate certificate. The absence fee will be determined and charged by the University after the examination period via NEPTUN TR.
The responsible institute shall make up the examination dates missed due to the absence of the instructor.
Examinations may be taken during the examination period of the semester, but in exceptional cases (in particular: childbirth, long-term illness, hospitalisation, etc.), examinations may be taken out of the examination period at the student's request:
- after the examination period of the autumn semester, up to the 7th week of the study period of the following semester;
- during the examination period of the spring semester, no later than 20 July before the beginning of the next semester's study period.
Examination out of the examination period can be requested via NEPTUN TR within 3 working days after the last day of the examination period.
