Program Change / Transfer within the University

Conditions for program change:

A student may request transfer to a program within the University that belongs to the same or a related field of study. Transfers can only be requested between programs of the same level, except from undivided programs to bachelor’s programs, or from bachelor’s and undivided programs to higher education vocational programs.

Within the University, a student with an active student status may be transferred from another campus, program, specialization, mode of study, language of instruction, or study schedule if they have previously studied in a program of the same level and the same or a related field of study, and do not meet the conditions for mandatory dismissal or exclusion. In the case of first-year students, the admission score applicable for the academic year in which the transfer is requested may also be taken into account.

For state-funded/state-scholarship students, continuation under the same funding type in the new program is possible only if they have not exhausted the support period defined in Sections 47 (1), (1a), and (3) of Act CCIV of 2011 on National Higher Education.

Program change procedure:

For internal program changes (including changes in program, study schedule, language of instruction, or campus location), a transfer request must be submitted through the NEPTUN system. The completed and signed course equivalency form must be attached to the request.

The request shall clearly specify:

  • the desired program,
  • study level and study schedule (full-time, part-time, evening, distance learning),
  • campus location and language of instruction,
  • type of funding (state-funded/state scholarship or self-financed/tuition-paying).

Documents to be attached in case of transfer from another program:

  • proof of student status,
  • declaration stating that the student is not under mandatory dismissal or exclusion,
  • certified copy of the transcript/record sheet issued by the current institution,
  • certified syllabus (course program) of the courses completed at the current institution,
  • completed and signed course equivalency form.

Submission deadlines:

For the fall semester: by August 21
For the spring semester: by January 20

Evaluation of the request:

The preparation of the decision involves a staff member appointed by the Director of the Academic Affairs Directorate. In the case of an internal program change, the campus Academic Office prepares the decision, and based on the opinion of the Study and Credit Transfer Committee and the program coordinator, the director of the receiving institute makes the final decision regarding the transfer request.

Enrollment deadlines:

For internal program changes, following a positive decision on the transfer request:
Fall semester: by September 20
Spring semester: by February 20
